FREE admission for children 12 and under from December 19 to January 3
Celebrate the holiday season at Assiniboine Park Zoo from December 19 to January 3 with free admission for children 12 and under. It all kicks off on December 19 and 20 with visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, Scuba Santa, and Winston, the polar bear mascot!
“The holiday season is a great time for families to come down to Assiniboine Park Zoo,” said Janice Martin, Curator at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. “A lot of our animals thrive in winter temperatures, so visitors will have a chance to see polar bears, wolves, snow leopards, tigers and more when they are very active.”
The North Polar Party kicks off with the following activities taking place at the Zoo on Saturday December 19 and Sunday December 20, 2015.
Santa’s Tundra Workshop – Warm up, pick up a colouring page, hang out with some elves, and take your picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Taking place from 10 am to 4 pm at Tundra Grill (in the Journey to Churchill Exhibit).
Winston on Location – Don’t miss your chance to catch a glimpse of Winston, the Polar Bear Mascot. Taking place from 10 am to 2 pm at the Zoo entrance.
Scuba Santa Selfie – Get your photo taken with Scuba Santa while he swims inside the Seal Tank. Taking place at 1 pm in the Gateway to the Arctic building.
Toy Mountain Drive– Help us make the holidays a little brighter for kids! We are gathering new unwrapped toys for Salvation Army’s 2015 Toy Mountain campaign and inviting the community to make a donation. Simply purchase a new toy and place it (unwrapped) in the official donation bin at the Zoo entrance before 4 pm on December 20th.
The following holiday activities will take place at the Zoo throughout the entire winter break from Saturday December 19 to Sunday January 3, 2016.
Holiday Animal Encounters – Discover fun facts about polar bears and seals every afternoon in the Gateway to the Arctic building, learn about our newest polar bear cubs every day at 11 am at the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre, and meet our snow leopards, including our newest cubs Yuki and Kang, every day at 2 pm in the Snow Leopard Enclosure.
Polar Playground – Kids of all ages will love this indoor Arctic wonderland of active participation! The Polar Playground is located inside the Tundra Grill and open during regular Zoo hours.
