Canada faces Nigeria in Winnipeg Tune-Up Games

After 20 years Winnipeg got the chance to host an international basketball competition, this time featuring the Senior Men’s National Team playing against Nigeria.

Canada Basketball announced Monday that the game will be played at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg on Friday, August 9 at 7 p.m. CT. The game serves as a tune-up matchup for both teams in preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China. Presale tickets will be available on Tuesday, April 30 at 10 a.m. CT with general public on-sale beginning on Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. CT. Tickets start as low as $19.95 plus fees and are available at ticketmaster.ca.

Canada qualified to the World Cup by finishing the Americas Qualifiers with a 10-2 record to lead Group F. Nigeria qualified after similarly finishing first in Group F with 10-2 in the African Qualifiers.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will be held in China on August 31-September 15, 2019. Canada is in Group H along with Senegal, Lithuania and Australia.
