Big Cheque Excitement supporting (SHOW) for the Philippines

Manitoba Harvest kicked off the big cheque presentations at the Burton Cummings Theatre with a donation of $10,000 by Marcel Joaquin, CFO with Manitoba Harvest.
A massive $30,000 donation followed by Larry and Tova Vickar of the Vickar Automotive Group. Joining Larry and Tova on stage was well over 60 Vickar employees as they made the cheque presentation to the Canadian Red Cross. Representing the Canadian Red Cross at the show, was Shawn Feely, Provincial Director for Manitoba Branch.

The donations from individuals and businesses in Manitoba continue to roll in. Volunteering at the show, Jaime Torres from the RBC Advice Centre collected $1,300 in staff donations. Other notable donations included $238.50 from the Irish Association of Manitoba.

In addition to sponsoring the show, Mosaic Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery Services collected and matched staff donations amounting to $1060.00. Also, as the current president of Villa Nova Housing, donated $500 from Darin Hoffman, June Nasuti (Executive Director) and Pat Potenza (Past President).

Andrew Dickson, General Manager of the Manitoba Pork Council graced the community with a cheque presentation of $10,000 at the PBA Sunday games at Garden City Collegiate.

Over the last month, the Philippine Basketball Association (Winnipeg) and it’s legion of committee members and volunteers collected over $2,868 from their network of supporters. Part of their overall donation came from Calden Enterprises, owners of the Lincoln and LA Hotels ($500); David Davis Immigration ($500); Ray Duque ($300); Randy Viray Financial ($200) and Loralee ($100).

Well over $60,000 in individual and corporate donations, concert and merchandise proceeds have been raised for Typhoon Haiyan relief. All money raised will go to support Canadian Red Cross relief efforts in the Philippines.
