Ati-Atihan Festival Celebrations

The hall at St. Joseph’s Parish Church echoed with bellowing cheers, rythmic beatings of drums and xylophones as dancers paraded to celebrate this year’s Ati-Atihan festival.

The Ati-Atihan Festival celebrated during the third weekend of January in Kalibo, Aklan is replicated by the Aklan Association of Manitoba. The festival is among the oldest and most vibrant festivals in the Philippines and held in honour of the Child Jesus Senor Sto. Niño.

The Aklan Association of Mantioba Ati-Atihan band and street dancers perform and compete every year during the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival in August.
