As early as January, government agencies under the Executive branch have been submitting reports on their respective projects and developments to the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) for possible inclusion in the SONA.
This was disclosed by deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte who said that President Benigno S. Aquino III’s State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) is still “a work in progress.”
The President will be coming out with his SONA during the Joint Session of the 15th Congress on July 23, 2012 at the House of Representatives,
Valte said the Cabinet has not yet met specifically for the SONA preparations and that nothing has been finalized yet. She added that early as in the first quarter, there have already been discussions on what the focus of the SONA should be.
The Palace official was also tight-lipped on the possibility that President Aquino will announce the name of the next Chief Justice in his SONA. During his last year’s SONA, President Aquino announced the appointment of retired Supreme Court Justice Conchita Carpio Morales as the new head of the Sandiganbayan
Valte also said the President has yet to pick somebody to take the new director post of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
