President Benigno S. Aquino III has recently approved the implementation of the P15.8 billion Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) expressway Phase II project and the P26.3-billion National Sewerage and Septage Management Program as the government seeks to improve access to the country’s main airport as well as enhance water quality and public health in communities.
Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Abigail Valte said the NAIA expressway Phase II project will link the airport to the Diosdado Macapagal Avenue and involves the construction of a four-lane elevated expressway, a toll plaza, and five on-and-off ramps. The expressway seeks to improve access to NAIA.
The National Sewerage and Septage Management Program, on the other hand, involves the development of sewerage and septage services to minimize the adverse impacts of domestic wastewater discharges to the water quality of communities.
Only two of the eight projects were approved by the President during a meeting of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board in Malacañang last Wednesday, as he asked for more documentation about the remaining six infrastructure projects.
The President chairs the NEDA board as the highest development planning and policy coordinating committee of his administration.
