Hunk actor Aljur Abrenica takes on the biggest challenge of his career by taking the lead role in “Ang Hapis at Himagsik ni Hermano Puli.”
The historical film by Gil Portes is based on the story of Apolinario de la Cruz, the religious leader who founded the Cofradia de San Jose (Confraternity of Saint Joseph). He led a rebellion against the Spaniards after his application to become a priest was rejected due to his Filipino race. Aljur did his research for his role and went to Hermano Puli’s hometown in Lucban, Quezon. The actor said he wants to prove that there’s more to him than winning the title of “Ultimate Hunk” in the talent search series, Starstuck. “Ang Hapis at Himagsik ni Hermano Puli” opens on September 21 in cinemas nationwide.
