The AlDub tandem of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza was easily the top choice for 2015. Alden and Maine finally met on October 24 at an event called Tamang Panahon, which registed a record 41 million tweets on Twitter. The two have also been featured of various endorsements, and recently appeared in the movie My Bebe Love.

The movie A Second Chance starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo made a mark in 21015. The film earned a record-breaking P556 million worldwide eight years after the success of their first movie One More Chance. In June, former child actor Jiro Manio was found roaming around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Actress Ai-Ai delas Alas came forward to help, with the actress taking responsibility for his treatment in a facility.

Philippine beauty pageant contestants recorded a historic winning streak in 2015. On October 8, Ann Lorraine Colis won the Miss Globe title; Trixie Maristela was declared Miss International Queen on November 6; Cindy Pacia Madduma won the Miss Scuba International pageant on November 28; and on December 5 Angelia Ong won Miss Earth. In December, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach became the 3rd Filipino to win the Miss Universe title after 42 years. The end of the year was capped by the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International crown won by Leren Mae Bautista on December 31.Meanwhile, Neil Perez won the title of Mister International 2014 in February, while Reniel Villareal made it to the top 10 when the competition was held in Manila last November 30.

Celebrity babies born in 2015 include the daughter of actress Melissa Ricks, Cristine Reyes’ daughter with fiancé Al Khatibi, the daughter of young actress Empress Schuck, the daughter of Jennica Garcia with husband Alwyn Uytingco, Bianca Gonzalez-Intal’s daughter, and the daughter of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.

In March, El Gamma Penumbra emerged as the champion of Asia’s Got Talent, while Gerphil Flores placed 3rd. In November, Filipino-Australian Cyrus Villanueva won the X-Factor Australia talent show. Filipino girl group 4th Impact made it to the Top 5 on X-Factor UK for their powerful performances.
