YouTube sensation Maria Aragon finally got to see the Philippines.
The 11-year-old singer arrived in the country last July 20 with her mother and three siblings for a two-month vacation. She plans to visit the hometown of her mother in Ormoc City, Leyte and to enjoy the sands of Boracay.
Maria had her first live local appearance via “M.U. (Music Uplate) Live” on July 21 where she sang her Jessie J’s “Price Tag” while playing the keyboard.
The young singer has already signed up as the newest talent of ABS-CBN Kapamilya. She is also set to ink a contract with ABS-CBN’s record label, Star Records where she will sing “Born This Way” and “Kung Bubuksan Mo Lang and Puso,” among others.
Maria landed in the news when music star Lady Gaga twitted that she had viewed a YouTube video of her playing the keyboard and singing Gaga’s new song “Born This Way.” Soon after that, Maria’s video went viral, garnering more than 38 million views and roughly 400,000 Likes.
Gaga said she was extremely impressed by the girl’s performance to the point that she even had a duet with “Lady Maria” during the pop singer-songwriter’s March 3 concert in Canada.
The young singer has so far invaded several U.S. shows such as “Good Morning America” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Her most recent performance was in front of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit in Canada last month.
Born of Filipino parents, Maria is certainly proud of her Filipino blood and tries to keep in touch with Filipino cultures and traditions even while living in Canada.
