The film “Bliss,” which earned for Iza Calzado the prestigious Yakushi Pearl Award at the 2017 Osaka Asian Film Festival, was slapped with an X rating by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Iza was surprised why the foreign film “Fifty Shades of Grey” which tackles love, sadism and masochism (S&M) was shown in the Philippines with an R-18 rating.
She said while there is nudity, violence, blood, and cursing in “Bliss,” it tackles not just abuse in society but is supposed to rouse people going through a cycle of abuse. Iza and “Bliss” director Jerrold Tarog will visit the MTRCB office hoping that something positive things will come of the meeting.
