The Career Internship program at DMCI offers students an opportunity to participate in a 30 hour practicum with mentors in a professional capacity ie: veterinary, medical research, marketing displays, banking, architecture, engineering, pharmacy, teaching, etc. The practicum provides the students with an opportunity to get a birds-eye-view of a profession of their choosing. The program can also assist students in making decisions regarding post-secondary education prior to registering for a faculty or special program. Many students find the program very rewarding and establish very positive relationships with their mentors.
Students interested in applying for the program can do so in April/May of Grade 11. The process consists of the application, interview, selection process and enrollment in the Career Internship program. The program is offered to students entering Grade 12.
Take Our Kids to Work is a provincial wide selected day where Grade 9 students attend work with a parent, relative, or community placement through the school.
The program provides students to observe what their parents/relatives/neighbors do for a living. The community based placements expose students to 3 or 4 career opportunities: aviation, culinary, web page design, electronics, service industries to name a few. The day generally proves to be very informative and educational for the students province wide.
