Winnipeg’s pride The 1221 launches album in the Philippines

Winnipeg’s band of brothers, The 1221 had a successful album launching at Sessions Bar in Quezon City, Philippines, last April 22. Fronting for them was the prime ’90s-popular Philippine Alternative Rock band Alamid, whose drummer Gail Ignacio (brother of the band’s late vocalist, Gary Ignacio)—also a resident of Winnipeg—paved the way for the concert to take place. The 1221 consists of the brothers Roman, Rico, and Roque Maceda. They and their parents were in the Philippines for a vacation when the show occurred. The young and hardworking Alternative Pop/Rock band has just released their debut EP, titled Wish. With the help of Ignacio, who was also currently in the Philippines, the launching gig went well. The 1221 will be also one of the front acts for the May 6 concert of the touring Philippines-based Alternative Rockers Siakol and Grin Department, at Essence Event Centre of Canad Inn Garden City.
