In an interview, Manny Pacquiao was quoted as saying same-sex couples were worse than animals. However the ensuing firestorm compelled the Sarangani congressman to issue a public apology to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In a video statement on his Instagram account, Pacquiao admitted that he was wrong for comparing men to animals, but stood firm that he’s against same-sex marriage.
Vice Ganda, one of the prominent personalities who expressed dismay over Pacquiao’s statement accepted the apology. But the TV host-comedian said he will still not vote for Pacquiao. The boxing icon is running for a Senate seat in May.
