The results of the 2016 bar exams released by the Supreme Court (SC) en banc on Wednesday, May 3, showed four of the top 10 passers – all from schools outside Metro Manila – are from the University of San Carlos USC) in Cebu.
Karen Mae Calam of USC- Cebu topped the examinations with a grade of 89.05%, besting over 6,000 others who took the examinations last November at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). The 2016 bar exams registered a 30-year record high passing rate of 59.06%. The 2015 bar examinations showed a passing rate of 26.21% with Rachel Angeli Miranda of the University of the Philippines claiming the top spot.
