The Viscount Gort Hotel, Conference and Banquet Centre was the site of a very special evening on Saturday, March 18. The Quezon Province Association of Manitoba (QPAM) hosted an exciting gala event to celebrate the accomplishments of one of their own, Dr. Romulo F. Magsino, Sr. The sounds of laughter, joy and excited chatter filled the halls and banquet room all evening, lasting till the wee hours of the evening.
Ms. Maggie “Maan” Chan Urbano and Mr. Alden Novallasca were gracious and entertaining emcees during the evening. Father Mark Tarrant from the St. John Brebeuf Parish shared a blessing of Tribute Honouree and guests. Special guests speakers Dr. David Mandzuk, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Tom Colina, Grand Knight Officer of the Knights of Rizal, and Senator Tobias C. Enverga, Jr. from Ottawa provided wide-ranging insights and stories about Dr. Magsino’s career, volunteer contributions and personal life. Dignitaries from various levels of government and a number of business and community leaders also attended to support the QPAM event. Musical performances from the Magsino grandchildren kicked-off the evening, and a number of very beautiful musical performances were provided throughout the evening by Dr. Tricia Magsino Barnabé, Dr. Julie Maniate and Maya Barnabé.
