Senator Joker P. Arroyo is still the thriftiest lawmaker for the 20th straight year.
A Commission on Audit (COA) report “Itemized List of Amounts Paid to and Expenses Incurred for Each Senator” category for the year 2011, showed Arroyo spending a grand total of P31,867,125.93 which was the lowest for that year..
Topping the list was Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile with P118,306,463.65 total expenses. He was followed by Senate President Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada with P62,122,308.412. Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III ranks third with P56,259,173.08.
The COA report also said the median expenses was P48,307,382.17 with taxpayers shelling out a total of P1,110,954,789.89 for the expenses of senators.
The expenses of Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri and his replacement, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, were excluded in the computation because neither served the full year of 2011.
