On Tuesday, Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV said “The Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship is set to conduct its own investigation into the price increases of garlic and other agricultural products.”
According to Aquino, he is joining Senate President Franklin Drilon’s proposal for a thorough investigation into the reported price manipulation of some traders and businessmen selling basic agricultural products such as rice, garlic and onion.
The Senate Committee on Agriculture chaired by Sen. Cynthia Villar has also agreed to start public hearings on the issue in order to find out the cause of the recent spike in the prices of basic agricultural products.
