Save-On-Foods International at Northgate Shopping Centre opened to the public on November 19 while the Save-On-Foods Polo Park and Bridgewater opened quietly a day before on November 18th.
Save-On-Food president Darrel Jones took media for an opening day tour of the International Northgate store to highlight grocery store offerings which were designed and built specifically for Winnipeg.
The International designation provides unparalled variety with over 6,000 international food items including two aisles specifically offering products from the Philippines. The grocery also features fresh fruits and vegetables from near and far in their International produce department including calamansi and jackfruit.
The Northgate location also offers additional Asian cuisine through their Save-On-Foods Kitchen offering of ready-made meals and take-out offering. This includes BBQ pork, dim sum, deep fried talapia, Asian specialties to hand-stretch pizza, in-house perogy bar and chicken wing bar. There’s something for everyone.
The in-house commissary at Northgate makes fresh food including stuffed and flat pastas and Save-On-Foods’ very own speciality line of deli meats, premium cut bacon, fresh-made sausages. Live tanks complete a selection of fresh, frozen and smoked seafood.
