Dear Distinguished Guests,
It is my honour and pleasure to welcome you to our 4th Annual Awards Gala! We recognize and celebrate the rich and diverse talent of business people and entrepreneurs in our province’s Filipino community. This year is especially exciting as we celebrate our 5th anniversary as a business council!
The coming years are very important to Manitoba Filipino Business Council’s (MFBC) evolution as we transition into a Chamber of Commerce. This structural change signifies the growth of our activities, increased recognition in the business community and a tremendous value-add for our members.
With our new board of directors (elected in early 2015), we will steer and guide the group towards newheights. We are confident in the future of our members and the Filipino business community. Within the shortof period of my current presidency, the new board has worked together on several important and impressiveinitiatives, including:
•Attending the national visit of Philippine President Benigno Aquino III in Toronto and Ottawa
•Hosting (in partnership with World Trade Centre Winnipeg) the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the
Philippines and their delegates in Winnipeg
•Presenting to the Philippine Ambassador to Canada and their delegates in Winnipeg, providing
recommendations relevant to Manitoba-Philippines trade initiatives, and seeking cooperation amongst all
other Filipino business groups in the country
•Conducting meetings with local business groups to discuss future collaborations
•Organizing our first strategic planning session
Our strategic sessions revealed that part of our growth means redefining our identity and perceived values in the community. The value statements that will guide us in the upcoming years are: Inclusive, Integrity, Professionalism, Respect, Responsibility and Trust. It was also important for us to revisit our vision and mission statements to ensure it reflects who we want to be and where we want to go in the future.

Mission Statement:
We build relationships that increase the member’s visibility, recognition and business growth. Together, wecultivate professional development through networking and mentorship.
These are the statements that will guide us as we navigate through challenges, opportunities, and adapting to changes while achieving success on behalf of our members and the Filipino business community.
