Pope Francis is set to visit the Philippines for the first time from January 15 to 19 next year. The itinerary and other schedules of Pope Francis’ visit will be announced by the end of the year, according to Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.
The Pope’s visit will mark the 20th anniversary of the World Youth Day celebration held in Manila, led by St. John Paul II. Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. has been designated as the lead point person for the visit.
The Pope also expressed intentions to visit areas hit by super typhoon “Yolanda.”
Pope Francis will arrive on January 13 in Sri Lanka and will then travel to the Philippines afterwards.
