Police Identify Suspect in Killing of Transgender


The primary suspect in killing of a transgender woman in Olongapo City last Saturday night has been identified by the authorities on Tuesday.

Police identified the suspect as a Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton, of the US Marine Corps, 2nd Battalion of 9th Marines.

According to Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor, chief police information officer, Pemberton was described by witness Mark Clarence Gelviro who is reportedly the companion of victim Jeffrey Laude, alias Jennifer.
Twenty six-year-old Jeffrey Laude, also known as Jennifer was found dead inside a budget hotel in Olongapo City several minutes after checking with a foreigner.

“The suspect was identified through a photo line up” and “the case of murder will be filed against Pemberton”, said Mayor.
