Pagtakhan career fair draws big crowds of job seekers

Organized by the amiable city councillor Mike Pagtakhan, the career job fair attracted over 200 job seekers and 33 participating exhibitors including City of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Transit, the RCMP, the Immigrant Centre, Volunteer Manitoba, Manitoba Hydro, University of Manitoba and Red River College among others.

“We were surprised at the turn-out of job seekers here who were already present even before we could open the venue,” said an elated Pagtakhan who has already set another event this fall.

The April 26 edition featured careers in trucking, manufacturing and post-secondary institutions. Pagtakhan added the September job fair will offer opportunities in health care, industrial and agricultural. “I’m also promoting opportunities in the agricultural and food sciences and trades as options for our youth,’ said Pagtakhan who was on hand to greet visitors.

We would like to encourage interested exhibitors to the next job fair and may contact the city councillor any time at 204-986-8402.

Those that missed out on the recent April 26 Career Fair need not fret as another opportunity for job seekers and future entrepreneurs has been slated this coming September 2014.
