The Department of Labor and Employment announced the good news for Overseas Filipino workers in South Korea on Monday.

OFW’s in the said country can expect a higher in pay 2015 after the South Korea Minimum Wage Council (SKMWC) passed a 370 Korean won increase in the hourly minimum wage rate.

According to Philippine Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS) will receive an hourly salary of 5,580 Korean won from 5,210 Korean won.

The minimum wage will translate to a monthly salary of 1,166,220 won (P49,680.972) for people working 40 hours a week.

The proposal of the SKMWC is expected to benefit over 35,000 Filipino workers and will be transmitted to the Minister of Employment and Labor for approval and employers will be given 10 days to raise their objections to the proposal.
