Bison men’s basketball team split weekend double header.
It was Filipino Night at the Investor’s Group Athletic Centre on Friday, November 26th as the Manitoba Bisons took on their provincial rivals, the Brandon Bobcats. Supporters and fans from the Philippine Basketball Association made it out to support Eric Garcia and Jonar Huertas. Kristina Gamurot was invited to sing both the Philippine and Canadian national anthems at the beginning of the game on Friday.
The Bisons won the Friday night game 88-78. Eric Garcia ended the evening with 13 pts and Jonar Heurtas with 4pts. The Bisons led throughout the contest, building a four-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back despite a couple runs from the Bobcats.
The Saturday night matchup was tightly contested with the Bisons losing in overtime by a couple buckets, 88-84 for the Bobcats. With the loss, the Bisons are 6-3 in Canada West standings. Garcia with 16pts and Huertas with 19pts.
