More than 2,000 devotees participate Good Friday’s Public Way of the Cross

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg’s Public Way of the Cross last Good Friday, close to more than 2,000 Christian devotees joined the annual public display of their faith.

This year’s devotion was held at St.Vital Roman Catholic Church. From the church, the procession passed thru many streets in the 2.2 kilometer stretch
Along the way, the procession stopped seven times for reflection and prayers.

Started with only 400 devotees in 1988 by students of St. Mary’s Academy and St. Paul High School,, and thru the passing years, the Public Way of the Cross has drawn more than thousand devotees. This year’s devotion is blessed with a sunny weather.

The next year’s Good Friday’s Public Way of the Cross will be held at St. John Cantius Parish in the North End. This year’s devotion is blessed with good weather.
