Two Filipinos will be part of the cast of the UK tour of “Miss Saigon” set for July.
This was announced by show producer Cameron Mackintosh who said that Red Concepcion and Gerald Santos will portray the Engineer and Thuy, respectively.
Concepcion is a theater actor whose stints in the Philippines include Adam/Felicia in “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” Tommy in “The Normal Heart” and Alan Strang in “Equus.” For his part, Santos was the youngest ever winner of the biggest singing contest in the country “Pinoy Pop Superstar.” Concepcion and Santos are the newest homegrown talents to be cast as part of the award-winning musical. Lea Salonga portrayed Kim in the original musical production. The others include Rachelle Ann Go, Jon Jon Briones, Eva Noblezada, Catherine Ricafort, and Billy Bustamante to name a few.
