Imelda Schweighart has resigned from her duties and responsibilities as Miss Philippines-Earth.
Schweighart’s resignation was accepted Monday afternoon, October 31 during a meeting with Lorraine Schuck, executive vice president for Carousel Productions which organizes the annual pageant. The Filipino-German beauty queen was accompanied by her mother Annabeth Bautista and trainer Rodgil Flores. Meanwhile, newly crowned Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin of Ecuador said she respects Schweighart’s decision. She said she will clarify all the rumors so that there will be no misunderstanding. Historically, this is the first time in the pageant’s 16-year run that a reigning Miss Philippines-Earth resigned from her duties.
