Manitoba’s Finest – Raising Hope on the Runway

Manitoba’s Finest – Raising Hope on the Runway

Sharing the runway with Blue Bomber alumni and CFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Milt Stegall is a pretty darn good way to spend an evening. Along with a dozen gentlemen selected to participate in its inaugural signature event for the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, I was flattered at the opportunity.

When I was asked to participate in the fashion show last fall, it was a no-brainer and instantly said yes. While strutting down the runway was an appealing part of the experience, the more important piece was the hope in building awareness and supporting kidney research. I have had family and friends challenged by having to go through dialysis treatment or are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant.

Manitoba’s Finest featured the following local models: Paul Bennett, co-chair and founder of Manitoba Heroes; Paul Deniset, wealth manager at Scotia Wealth Management; Casey Irwin, owner of Irwin Technologies; Danny Kleinsasser, Danny’s Whole Hog; Andy Kloppenborg, RE/MAX Performance Realty; Dr. Paul Komenda, nephrologist and director of research at Seven Oaks General Hospital; Dr. Bruce McFarlane, orthodontist at Village Orthodontics; Chad Swayze, firefighter and executive board member with the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg; Robert Thomas, chef, TV personality; Roland Vandal, author and motivational speaker and Milt Stegall, CFL Hall of Famer and former Winnipeg Blue Bomber.
