To celebrate the 117th Independence of the Republic of the Phillipines, a City of Winnipeg Flag Raising ceremony will be held on June 9, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at the quadrangle, as the Mayor Brian Bowman has invited various associations to attend this historical event sponsored by the Manitoba Council Canadian Filipino Associations Inc.(MaCCFA)
At the celebration, the Philippine Flag will be raised by His Worship Mayor Brian Bowman, assisted by Dr. Roland Guzman, former Consul General and one of the Filipino pioneers. National Anthem will be led by Mrs. Zeny Calimlim Fronda, Mrs. Luzon-Manitoba 2014-2015. Opening remarks will be Florencio “Tony”Antonio; invocation by Letty Duque Antonio, president of the Original Filipino Seniors Association of Manitoba (OFSAM), closing remarks by Maggie Chan-Urbano, president of Quezon Province Association of Manitoba.
The committee on program is headed by OFSAM as represented by Letty Duque Antonio, as president; and co-chaired by QPAM led by Maggie Chan-Urbano.
A reception will followed after the flag raising ceremony.
