Members of Maasinhon Trio said it is not their fault that singing bested all other types of talents for the “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3” (PGT) Grand Finals.
Finding themselves at the receiving end of criticisms less than a week after being declared winners, Andrew Sanchez, Licinio Lolo and Bonifacio Salubre said they hold no grudges against people who expressed dissatisfaction over the results of the ABS-CBN talent show.
For her part, business unit head for TV production Alou Almaden stressed that PGT winners have always been determined by the most number of text and online votes. She added that the result of online voting must be respected because it was the choice of the viewing public.
It can be recalled that the unexpected result shocked both televiewers and audience alike during the finals night at the Ynares Center. Social networking and online entertainment sites and blogs were on fire with so many criticisms as netizens claimed that the contest’s voting system was no longer based on talents but on popularity.
Some people even posted that the show should now be named as “Pilipinas Got Singers.”
Past winners of the talent show showcased their singing skills. In its first season, Jovit Baldivino was the winner while Marcelito Pomoy took the top prize last year.
