List includes PH among world’s happiest places

A recently released report by the Happy Planet Index (HPI) shows the Philippines got an HPI Score of 35.0 and ranked 20th out of 140 countries in the list of happiest places in the world.

The HPI data show the Philippines ranked in the middle in the fields of Life Expectancy, Wellbeing, and Inequality of Outcomes. The scores for the Philippines shows Life expectancy among Filipinos is at 67.9 years. Wellbeing, or the score given by respondents when asked about how “they feel with life overall,” is 5.5 out of 10. Inequality of outcomes, or the “between people within a country, in terms of how long they live, and how happy they feel,” is at 26%. The Philippines is among the best scoring countries in Ecological Footprint at 1.1. Meanwhile, Costa Rica, the highest ranked country, received an HPI score of 44.7. The United States ranked 108, the United Kingdom at 34, and China at 74.
