Lace Up: The Forks’ Canopy Rink and Skate Rentals Are Now Open

Strap on your skates, Winnipeg – the skating rink under the canopy at The Forks is ready for action!

Also opening today is Iceland Skate Rentals, located right beside the skate changing area in the Market Atrium. Kids and seniors can get laced up for just $3, and adults for $5. Have your own skates that are looking a little dull from last year? Roy at Iceland can sharpen them up for you for only $5 as well.

“We’re embracing winter here at The Forks,” said Paul Jordan, Chief Executive Officer, The Forks. “With the first rink open and the opening of Arctic Glacier Winter Park just around the corner, we’re excited to get out there.”

On-land skating trails are expected to be open later this week, followed by more pieces of Arctic Glacier Winter Park in the next couple weeks: the toboggan run, an ever expanding snowboard facility professionally designed to thrill, and the Snowman Lounge, sponsored by Great-West Life.

With the addition of The Common to The Forks Market this past spring, skaters can now take a break, head inside, warm up with a glass of wine or craft beer, and grab a bite from some of our new Food Hall kiosks.

Arctic Glacier Winter Park attractions are free and will be open as they become available from now until March, weather permitting.
