Kamikazee bids farewell

In their desire to explore life outside the band, members of the once-popular Filipino rock band Kamikazee finally disbanded after 15 years in the local music scene. The band held its last bar gig on Monday night at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub in Makati City, although it said it will hold a final show in December.

Kamikazee was formed during the early 2000s and is composed of Jay Contreras, Led Tuyay, Jomal Linao, Puto Astete and Bords Burdeos. The hard rock group was known for their original compositions and recorded four albums, including 2006’s “Maharot” which had hits such as “Narda,” “Chiksilog” and “Martyr Nyebera.” Its other hits include “Huling Sayaw,” and “Wala.”
