The Gift

The newly formed Winnipeg local band Tropa will be performing at the fundraiser billed as “The Gift,” to be held on, at (725 Kingsbury St.), at 2–6 p.m. Other performers include The Blink, Bea Jaime, Vina Dimayuga, James Cruzat, Hannah Sagaral, and John “Zumba.” The event is in support of raising funds for the hospital and therapy expenses of Uncle Paeng. The musical collective Tropa is led by former haLf man haLf eLf members Michael Mostajo (percussion; also moonlighting as a DJ), Gail Ignacio (drummer; formerly of the Philippine band Alamid), and yours truly plus a collective of fellow musicians whom include Pio “Slas” (electric guitar), John Samia (acoustic guitar), Vener Valencia (bass), Jay Cajilig Saladaga (percussion), Braeden Stawychny (second guitar), and Micah Banaag Parayaoan (female vocals). ‘Tropa’ is a Filipino word that may translate, in English, to “troop,” “peer group,” or “musical collective.”
