Our goal and dream…World Championships in Dublin, Ireland

This will be a very busy summer because our family will be investing a lot of training hours to prepare both of us as members of Team Canada at the World Karate Championships in Dublin, Ireland on October 27 to November 2, 2018.

In our previous articles we wrote about our preparations and our experiences at the Canadian Nationals in Ottawa where we competed with the best of the best martial arts athletes across the country. Our hard work paid off when we both came home victorious of being in the Top 4 overall standing in the different events we competed in and qualified us to be part of the Official Delegation representing Canada. We are both excited and determined to compete and proudly carry the Canadian Flag at the competition rings.

Our dream to represent Canada can only be realized if we are able to raise $8k to get us both and our coach to Ireland. We are very thankful for our parents and our school, Winnipeg Sikaran Arnis Academy have lined up a few fundraising events:

– On July 10 10am to 1pm and July 13 6pm to 9pm, “PAINT WITH MARIA” Make this season a summer to remember. Tita Maria offered to share her passion and skills in painting. Registration is now open and it is $40/person (materials included) You can be your own Picasso or Da Vinci.

– On August 16, 2018 from 6pm to 9pm, our school, The Winnipeg Sikaran Arnis Academy will be hosting a Bud Pizza and Pasta with dancing and karaoke at The Essence Event Centre. Tickets are $15/person. This event is powered by DJ Shockwave. There’s more! Lourdes Lynn is also celebrating her 12th Birthday on the same day at the same event and her birthday wish is to compete in Ireland.

– Mr. Rod Cantiveros, one of our greatest supporter and also like a grandfather to us, is also planning on hosting a Breakfast with Hot Rod Grill, details to follow.

All of these fundraising events really mean a lot to us because it would help us achieve our dreams in something we believe is great. As a young martial artist, I dreamt of being a part of something big like The Team Canada, I wanted to show the world that at a young age you can accomplish things as long as you put your mind, heart, and dedication in it and it can happen.

With these much activities it would definitely be a fun and exciting summer for everyone so come and join us at any or all of these events! We, Lee Angela and Lourdes Lynn, together with our family and our school will greatly appreciate any contribution, donation, your help and support to fulfill our dreams to Dublin, Ireland.

Thank you so very much!
