It’s more fun on the Red River Trail

Winnipegers continue to embrace winter as families head to the Forks to take in the warming huts and enjoy a skate along the 6.1km Red River Mutual Trail. The Red River skating trail runs from the Forks all the way to the St. Vital Bridge with several warming huts dot the trail to provide a rest spot for skaters, joggers, walkers and cross country skiers. Most of the warming huts are within walking distance of the Forks so they can be enjoyed by non-skaters. Red chairs on skis can be seen all along the river trail and is a great mode of transportation for everyone learning how to skate as they can be used as a skate trainer or used to sit down when your feet are cold and sore.

Which is your favourite warming hut? If you haven’t had a chance to check out all the outdoor activities available at the Forks, time is running out as Red River trail is expected to close mid-March. Lace up your skates for one more trip down the river.
