Filipinos to compete in Australia’s ‘X Factor’

The sixth season of Australia’s version of “The X Factor” will see three Filipino competitors.

On Sunday’s episode, 14-year-old Sydney-based student Marlisa Punzalan got the judges’ nod with her powerful performance of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.”

On Tuesday, 15-year-old Justin Vasquez of Melbourne and 28-year-old health care worker Mary Ann Van Der Horst from Victoria made good impression on the judges with their impressive numbers of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning,” and Beyoncé’s “Halo,” respectively.

The panel is composed of Judge Ronan Keating, Judge Redfoo of LMFAO, Judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Judge Dannii Minogue.

“American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez will reportedly appear as guest judge on “X Factor” Australia this season.
