Filipinos at the postal strike’s picket line

The members of the Winnipeg Local of Canadian Union of Postal Workers were in full blast after they were locked-out last week. and there are Filipino employees who joined the picket line while waiting for the final negotiation between C.U.P.W. and the Canada Post.

The Filipino Journal was able to meet some of the union members and heard some of the demands of their union. While having a needed break, the four employees, Catalina Mosionier, Jhojho and Lorna Onio and Amy Blanco shared their positive attitude that the strike would be over soon but they voiced out that the union is against the plan to end the strike by legislation. They wanted negotiation. As Catalina mentioned that the Canada Post employees are over-paid is not true.

And they are fighting for sick leave, letter carriers safety, pensions and most of all job securities. After a short respite, the four joined the throngs of postal employees to the picket line where they joined other union members and by observation, there many Filipinos who are out to join the walk around the downtown postal office.
