Filipino hip hop dancers make good in int’l competition

Two groups of Pinoy dancers were among the Top 9 dance competitors that made it to the finals under the adult division category in the recently concluded 2011 World Hip Hop Dance Championship.

In the dance finals held last July 31st at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Philippine Allstars and the Fil-Am group The Crew wowed the judges with their flawless dance formations and perfect coordination to bag fifth and ninth place, respectively.

The gold title was won by the UK team, Plague; the silver title was bagged by the New Zealand team, Request; and the bronze title was brought home by the US team, Instant Noodles.

In 2006 the multi-awarded Philippine Allstars became the first Asian dance crew to win back-to-back World Gold titles in the International Hip Hop Open d’Ítalia in Turin, Italy and in the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Los Angeles, California.

They repeated the feat in 2008 when they grabbed the Gold title in the World Hip Hop Dance Championships held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 2009 they grabbed the Gold title anew in the Malta Guinness Streetdance Africa held in Kenya, Africa.

In 2010, the group won the Tri-Asia Competition in Singapore and Dance2Dance competition in Zurich, Switzerland.

Just recently, the Allstars bagged first place at The World Streetdance Showcase Competition held last June 11 at the Theater 11 in Zurich, Switzerland.

The World Hip Hop Dance Championships was organized by the Hip Hop International and has attracted dance groups from over 35 countries all competing to become the Best Hiphop Dance Group in the World.
