Bursary awards given to four USTAAM members
The University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association of Manitoba has done it again, awarding cash scholarship award worth more than $8,000 to the fifteen deserving students who are pursuing post secondary education in the University of Manitoba and in other universities in Canada; and at the same awarding ceremony, four members of the alumni association received bursary cash awards to pursue advance studies.
Cathy Auld, director, Donor Relation and Corporate secretary and Jennifer Aarhus, student award specialist, of the the Winnipeg Foundation, graced the awarding ceremony.
The fifteen awardees include Sheree Mendoza, Andrea Shannen Trinidad, Renz Cabusas, Thomas James R. Bautista, Winnica Beltrano, Gabrielle B. Pagcaliwagan, Juan Paolo Carin Yadao, Deanna Rose N. Espinosa, Mary Anne Ragasa, Kristiana Isabel Senangelo, Alexis Nicole Z. Francisco, Angelene Fajardo, Liane Eunice B. Aballa, Frances Denise Alpuerto and Jolei Pamela Laroza.
The 2016 Bursary Recipients, USTAAM members, include: Maria Kristable Gadi (Pharmacy); Maridel Carmen Reyes (Nursing); Jose Festejo IV (Pharmacy) and Princess Samantah Buban (Nursing). All these recipients are members of the USTAAM and the bursary award is intended to pursue further study in their chosen fields.
The annual cash award is a recognition given to those Grade 12 students who are now enrolled in their post secondary education. The association allots the interest earned from the capital money being managed by the Winnipeg Foundation. Out of the twenty-six applicants only 15 students were selected by the Scholarship committee headed by Reggie Santos, as chairman; Phil Anciro, Clara Orallo, Rod E. Cantiveros, Archie Huypungco, Leah Magsino and Alda Ruiz, as members.
The induction of the USTAAM officers was held before the awarding of the scholarship and bursary at the Sturgeon Heights Community Centre recently. Rod E. Cantiveros, one of the founders of the alumni association, was the inducting officers. The officers of USTAAM for 2016-2017 are Vangie Mancie, president;Gee Carbonnel, vice president; Jericho Bryan Giba, treasurer; Mayumi Vicente, asst. treasurer; Lanie Pasco, secretary; Jen Purificacion, asst. secretary; Byron Yadao, auditor; Dr. Mirla David, Maridol Madolora, Nena Huypungco, Procy Kalaw and Lauren Abano, board members.
