Provinces of Surigao del Sur, Dumaguete and Aklan was hit by three earthquakes on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In the first series of quakes, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake was recorded at 12:32 a.m. in Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter was traced 61 kms northeast of Cortes in Surigao del Sur at a depth of 66 kms.
A second quake measuring 3.4, occurred at 2:27 a.m. with the epicenter some 217 kms southwest of Dumaguete City.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 31 km.
While in Aklan province, Phivolcs recorded a magnitude 3.2 tremor which struck at 12:04 p.m at a depth of 8 km.
The epicenter of the tectonic quake was estimated at 19 kms northeast of Ibajay in Aklan.
Despite the reported quakes, the agency noted that there was no reported intensity, no casualty or damage from the tremors and no aftershocks were expected from the three quakes.
