Critics says ‘Bourne Legacy’ a must see for its Manila action scenes

Manila is listed among the seven reasons people should see “Bourne Legacy.”

This was according to according to Ramin Setoodeh of The Daily Beast, the online home of Newsweek Magazine, as the scenes shot in the country caught the attention of film critics abroad.

The action-packed movie stars Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, and Edward Norton, and features cameo appearances by Filipino actors such as John Arcilla and Lou Veloso.

Mixed reviews ranging from both ends of the critics’ spectrum continue to pour in since the film was released worldwide last week.

Some critics are not fully impressed on the action scenes in Manila. Tim Robey (The Telegraph) said the motorbikes scenes are just obligatory action climax.

Todd McCarthy (The Hollywood Reporter) criticized the long motorcycle chase in the unfamiliar streets of Manila only features mostly familiar actions. Roger Ebert for his part also found the motorcycle chase too long and is edited in a frustrating style.
