Jon Reyes, pictured here third from the left, is currently a Board of Director with the Kidney Foundation of Canada – Manitoba Branch. Research has shown that kidney disease is a big concern amongst Filipinos and most people may not have symptoms until their kidney disease is advanced. “I want to give back to the community by organizing and holding an event to raise the awareness about kidney disease and what people can do to best prevent it through diet, exercise and lifestyle. I know a lot of close friends who have had family members on dialysis or who have succumbed to kidney disease,” says the current President of the Manitoba Filipino Business Council. Reyes plans to build a team to organize the event and hopes to have it come to fruition later this year.
