The 2011 Cinemanila International Film Festival (CIFF) will bestow the Lifetime Achievement Award to Nora Aunor during the festival’s opening night on November 11.
Aunor, whose real name is Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, is cited for her enormous contribution to the entertainment industry as an actor, singer, host, and producer.
Apart from the superstar, the 2011 CIFF will also honor Italian film director, producer and screenwriter Dario Argento with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Also known as the Italian Hitchcock, the 71-year old Argento is best known for his work in the horror genre and for his influence on modern horror and slasher movies.
Past awardees of the Cinemanila Lifetime Achievement Award includes US filmmakers Quentin Tarantino (2007) and Paul Schrader (2009) and Filipino artists Vilma Santos (2003), Eddie Romero (2004) and Dolphy (2010).
The 2011 CIFF will be screening about 50 international and local films from Nov. 11 to 17 at the Market! Market! Cinemas in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
Recently, Nora received the 3rd PMPC Star Awards for Music’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was also named as one of the 15 OPM Icons.
