Charice records theme song for Square Enix’s role playing game

The theme song in “Final Fantasy XIII-2” was sung by Filipino international singing sensation Charice.

The 19-year old singer was tapped to record “New World,” which will be available in the Western version of “Final Fantasy XIII-2.” Mai Fukui will sing the Japanese version titled “Yakusoku no Basho”.

The song is also featured in Charice’s second international album “Infinity,” which will be released in Japan on the first week of October.

“Final Fantasy XIII-2” is an upcoming console-role playing video game which is a direct sequel to the “Final Fantasy XIII” released in 2009. It was developed, produced and published by Square Enix’s 1st Production Department for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game is due to be released in Japan on December 15, 2011, January 31, 2012 in North America and February 3, 2012 in Europe.

Charice is not new in doing movie soundtracks. In 2009, she did the official movie soundtrack for the animated film “Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” with her rendition of “No One.”
