Centrallia & Philippine Trade Mission to Winnipeg

Manitoba Filipino Business Council Inc. (MFBC) is excited to share with you information about Centrallia 2016, a global business to business matchmaking forum.

The event was held between May 25-27 at the RBC Convention Centre attended by hundreds of business people from Canada, U.S. and International countries including the Philippines.

The event was sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry Philippines and co-sponsored by Canadian Western Bank, RBC Royal Bank and Culture Card Inc.

MFBC partnered with World Trade Centre Winnipeg and Manila, DTI Philippines and the Philippine Consular Office of Winnipeg to welcome our special guests from the Philippines in the evening of May 24, 2016 at Assiniboine Park Conservancy ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ showcasing live polar bears and sea lions during the event.

Among the very special guests were Her Excellency Philippine Ambassador to Canada Petronila P. Garcia, DTI Director Mr. Senen Perlada, DTI Asst. Division Chief Ms. Suraida Guro, WTC Manila Senior VP and General Manager Ms. Pamela Pascual and Honourable Cliff Cullen, Minister of Growth, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Government of Manitoba.

The Philippines’ brought about a dozen delegates from both the private sector and government sectors.

The guests were joined by MFBC members and various Manitoba businesses who looks to do business with Philippines companies and agencies.

MFBC President Hipolito Alibin Jr., who was attending as a Centrallia delegate with his company, also accompanied the Philippine delegates and introduced them to key business leaders in Winnipeg. Alibin also arranged and accompanied DTI’s Perlada to tour CentrePort Canada (a tri-modal inland port in Manitoba) and an interview with CJOB 680 host Geoff Currier explaining the importance of a strong Canada-Philippines trade relations. Alibin and Perlada hopes that this visit will be start of real business initiatives between Winnipeg and the Philippines.
