‘Asiong’ is biggest winner at PMPC Star Awards

“Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” emerged as the biggest winner a by bagging eight top awards including Movie of the Year at the 28th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies held March 14 at Meralco Theater.

“Asiong” lead star Laguna Governor George “ER” Ejercito, and Aga Muhlach who starred in the Star Cinema film “In the Name of Love,” shared the coveted Movie Actor of the Year award.

Likewise “Asiong” star Baron Geisler tied with “In the Name of Love” star Jake Cuenca for the Movie Supporting Actor of the Year.

The movie “In the Name of Love” took home five awards including Movie Actress of the Year for Angel Locsin. The Movie Supporting Actress of the Year went to Lovi Poe for her role in “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.”

Other winners include Darryl dela Cruz who brought home the Movie Director of the Year award for “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story”; Paul Soriano as .Digital Movie Director of the Year for “Thelma” which also won the Digital Movie Director of the Year; New Movie Actress – Solenn Heussaff (“Temptation Island”); New Movie Actor – Rocco Nacino (“Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”); and Movie Child Performer – Jillian Ward (“Aswang”)
