The various cultural activities for the 14th year of the Asian Heritage Month of May will showcase the multi talents of the Asian performers starting on May 8 at Steinbach where the local Asian community members will participate for the first time.
On May 11, Wednesday, CHMR Event- Asian Fusion: Tribute to Human Rights at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Performance and panel discussion on human rights highlights the event.
Asian Heritage Symposium will be held on May 12 at the University of Winnipeg; On May 26, Asian Canadian Writers reading by Ruth Ohi at various schools; Asian Canadian Festival at the Forks will be held on May 28 and 29.
“This year’s celebration will be another exciting year when our talented Asian performers will showcase the culture of their country through dance and music,” Art Miki, chairperson said.
The 2016 Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba executive includes Art Miki, chairperson; Yenny Trinh, vice-chairperson; Windy and Bau Duong, treasurer; Rod E; Cantiveros, past chairperson. Board members are Muni Mysore, Pamela Rebello, Fortunato Lim, Julie Javier, Wonjae Song, Yoon Kim, Rhanisa Hirawan, Allan Wong and Sharan Tappia.
