The biggest gathering of Filipinos in Manitoba is happening on Saturday, August 23. After several months of lead up events including the Tiannge ng Bayan and Festival Queen Coronation, there will be 51 participanting organizations will parade down McPhillips from Northgate Shopping Centre to Garden City Shopping Centre. Over 70 tents and one stage will fill the northwest parking lot (by Sears Canada) at Garden City Shopping Centre for the much awaited 2014 Manitoba Filipino Street Festival.
The weeks leading up to festival, all 51 parade organizations have been busy preparing their costumes, music, practising their dance moves and building their floats.
Headlining the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival performances is TFC’s own Gerald Anderson who will be replacing Piolo Pascal in a last minute change due to filming comittments. Arlene Paculan, a Filipina singer, songwriter and artist will be on stage along with with Ellona Santiago of XFactor USA fame.
Everyone is invited to attend and participate. Admission is FREE to the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival.
