Alden Fever Hits Winnipeg

Alden Fever Hits Winnipeg

By Donna Medina

It may have been cold outside but it was hot and steamy inside the Regent Casino Event Centre. It was a night as phenomenal as the Pambansang Bae Alden Richards’ Canadian Tour of “Baes in the city” dropped into Winnipeg last March 22.

“Baes in the city” presented by GMA Pinoy TV in cooperation with Corazon Money Express, the show definitely brought the Philippines closer to the Kapuso fans as Alden Richards and Roco Nacino left the female-domintaed crowd go gaga over their charm and cuteness overload-performances and interaction with the fans.

Special guest Kim Idol has brought the house down with his “Pinoy na Pinoy” humor that everyone was undeniably able to relate to.

It was an evening of on-stage excitement with several lucky fans ending up on stage with Alden Richards and Roco Nacino. It was an opportunity of a lifetime to be on the same stage with Alden Richards and walk away with a hug, a selfie and bragging rights.

Kim Idol spent most of his time with the audience as he casually interviewed several concert goers, including several fans that made the trip to Winnipeg from North Dakota. A more memorable interview was with the Alfred Gaddi, a Filipino Journal photographer covering the event.

Backstage, the ultimate bae Alden Richards and Roco Nacino shared more of their Winnipeg visit which they said was truly an experience to remember.

FJ: How do you like Winnipeg ?
Alden Richards: Okay naman po. Masarap weather. We appreciate this kind of weather kasi mainit na sa pinas especially now na summer and may global warming pa.

FJ: What can you say about the Winnipeggers?
AR: I’ve never expected that people from Winnipeg will be this warm. I was really overwhelmed. I never knew that Filipino community here is big. Ang daming Pinoy!

FJ: You’ve done a lot of shows abroad, what is the experience like esp with the Kapuso fans?
AR: One thing I observe with our Kapusos abroad, they are very excited when artists like us come to the country where they are. Kahit saan pa ’yan, they spoil us with treatment, food, gifts and time.’ yun ‘yung maipagmamalaki natin as Filipinos, we’re very hospitable.

FJ: What kind of show do you bring to your fans abroad?
AR: We always see to it that we don’t offer the same substandard show that we already did. We always reinvent the content of the show. We always have something new to offer our Kapusos abroad kasi I’m sure yung matatagal na rito sa canada have seen a lot of shows and we just make sure na hindi sya katulad ‘nung mga show na nanggaling na rito.

FJ: Message to Winnipeg fans
AR: Sa lahat ng Kapuso natin sa winnipeg, thank you for making our visit here worth-remembering. You don’t know how happy we are to be performing for you. Hope to see you in all Gma Pinoy TV shows as we bring home closer to you through our performaces.
Albud you all! (aldub famous wave)

FJ: How is your Canada trip?
Rocco Nacino: It’s been good. Masayang-masaya. I spent my birthday flying here. It’s special kasi dalawang araw birthday ko. It’s nice seeing all our Kapuso fans and spending time with them. It’s my first time here kaya it’s been a wonderful time. Sa mga kapuso, maraming salmat sa pagsuporta sa lahat ng gma artists. Sa mga taga-winnipeg, salamat sa warm welcome at sa pag-alaga sa amin. Talagang nag-enjoy kami rito.
